service Hamilton Island
By plane
Hamilton Island is located just off Australia’s Queensland coast, almost half way between Brisbane and Cairns. Short direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns will get you to the jet airport on Hamilton Island, with good connections from other Australian cities.
By boat
30-minute direct services operate from the mainland to Hamilton Island regularly each day. Alternatively, you can sail here in your own yacht and berth at the commercial marina.
By car
Turn off the Bruce Highway in Proserpine and head for Airlie Beach. Drive through town to Shute Harbour, where ferry transfers to Hamilton Island depart. Secure parking is available at Shute Harbour.
Getting around
On foot
Hamilton Island is 4.5km from North to South and 3km from East to West. So it’s possible to reach just about everything on the island by foot. Most services and facilities are concentrated in the Catseye Beach or Marina Village precincts, a short walk from most of the hotels.
Free shuttle buses
A convenient free ‘Island Shuttle’ service operates on the island from 7.00am to 11.00pm each day.
In a golf buggy
The main form of transportation on the island is by golf buggy - and each Hamilton Island Holiday Home booking includes one complimentary golf buggy per property. Additional golf buggies are available for hire for a discounted rate when hired through Hamilton Island Holiday Homes (full driver’s licence required).
Transfers to your property
The Hamilton Island Holiday Homes check-in desk is conveniently located at the airport and ferry terminal. Once the paperwork is done - you can drive directly to your property in your complimentary golf buggy.
