Being just over 100 nautical miles north of the Tropic of Capricorn puts the Whitsundays on the same latitude as Fiji.
The high season is between May and October, but you can experience excellent weather conditions at other times, particularly in the latter part of the year when warm and light northerly winds are not uncommon. July is the coolest month and January the warmest.
From March to September the south-east tradewinds blow, sometimes peaking at 30 knots, but at times these can be virtually non-existent.
